Hosted Messaging Explained: SMS on the Numbers Your Customers Already Know

Hosted messaging (text-enable) lets a business add inbound SMS to an existing landline or toll-free number without porting it. This explainer covers what the carrier overlay actually does, when hosting beats a port, the draft → LOA → submit → active lifecycle on Devotel Orbit, and the inbound-only, voice-stays-put boundaries buyers should check.

Hosted Messaging Explained: SMS on Your Existing Phone Number, No Porting Required

EU PSTN Switch-Off: The National Retirement Phasing Migration Checklist

European copper retirement runs on member-state schedules, not one EU-wide date — Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, and the Nordics each publish their own second-generation exchange withdrawal windows. This EU-specific runbook walks the tenant-owned checklist: mapping each member-state line inventory, deciding BYO-carrier versus port per country, getting exchange-level notices in writing, and running staged cut-overs ahead of the earliest national window.

PSTN Switch-Off and Copper Retirement, Explained — What It Demands of Your Telephony Estate

Regulators and incumbents across the EU and UK are retiring the public switched telephone network — copper access lines replaced by IP-only service on announced timelines. This explainer covers what the switch-off actually is, what copper retirement demands of a tenant's carrier and numbering posture, and the tenant-owned migration checklist for moving to SIP.

Migrate an Avaya PBX estate to Orbit — the runbook

An Avaya-specific migration runbook for teams leaving premise PBX hardware. The audit normalizes extension-versus-DID behavior into a routing contract, numbers port in staged waves on the LOA and bulk-CSV path, SIP trunks re-home beside or onto the estate, WEM recordings and agent state export before access lapses, and PBX-dependent peripherals (fax, door phones, codec walls) get per-device routes.

Phone Number Regulatory Preview, CNAM Display, and Per-Country Capability in 2026

Buying a business phone number used to mean discovering document requirements after checkout. Here is how a regulatory preview flips that order, why per-country capability counts are the honest version of "we have numbers," and what CNAM registration does to the name on the recipient's screen.
