P2A Messaging — Person-to-Application

ما هو P2A Messaging?

هذا المصطلح متوفر حاليًا باللغة الإنجليزية فقط.

P2A (person-to-application) messaging is the inbound direction of two-way messaging: a consumer sends a message from their device to a business application — a keyword text-in, a support request, an OTP confirmation, or a WhatsApp or RCS reply. It is the counterpart to A2P (application-to-person), where the business initiates the outbound message. A messaging platform captures P2A traffic and delivers it to the business application's inbound webhook or shared inbox.

More detail

P2A traffic is what powers keyword programs (text JOIN to opt in, text STOP to opt out), inbound support lines, and conversational flows — the customer speaks first, and the platform routes the inbound message to a webhook endpoint or conversation inbox.

In the MO/MT vocabulary the distinction maps directly: a P2A message is MO (mobile originated) — it travels from the handset into the network — and the reply that follows is A2P/MT (mobile terminated). Platforms route, rate-limit, and price the two directions differently.

Every inbound channel Orbit supports — SMS, WhatsApp, RCS, voice, and email — delivers its P2A traffic to the same shared inbox, so the person-to-application side of a conversation lands in one place regardless of the channel it came in on.

الأسئلة الشائعة

How does P2A differ from A2P messaging?
P2A (person-to-application) is inbound — the consumer initiates contact by texting a keyword, support line, or reply. A2P (application-to-person) is outbound — the business initiates the message through a platform or API. Two-way messaging combines both: P2A in, A2P out.
What is a P2A message used for?
Common P2A use cases are keyword opt-ins and opt-outs, inbound customer support, conversational commerce replies, and confirming an OTP or appointment. The defining trait is that the customer initiates, so carriers treat P2A as user-driven traffic separate from outbound A2P volume.
How does a platform capture P2A traffic?
The messaging platform registers a webhook endpoint or inbox with the aggregator or carrier, and every inbound message is POSTed to that endpoint with the sender, destination, and message body. In Devotel Orbit, inbound messages from every channel route into the shared team inbox.
