Voice Trace
ما هو Voice Trace?
هذا المصطلح متوفر حاليًا باللغة الإنجليزية فقط.
A voice trace is the diagnostic capture of a call's path through a voice network: the SIP signaling hops across endpoints, trunks, and carriers, plus the media quality measured on the stream itself (packet loss, jitter, latency). Support and engineering teams pull a trace of a failed or poor-quality call to see exactly which hop introduced the delay, the drop, or the one-way audio, instead of guessing from the endpoints alone.
More detail
A trace combines two layers: the signaling path (SIP INVITE, responses, and routing legs across each carrier hop) and the media path (RTP stream statistics such as packet loss, jitter, and round-trip time). The signaling layer shows where the call went; the media layer shows how the audio performed on each leg.
Voice traces are pulled per call, typically keyed by the call ID that also appears on the call's CDR, so a quality complaint, its trace, and its billing record all resolve to the same call.
A trace reads differently from a recording: the recording is the audio a participant heard, while the trace is the network-level evidence explaining why that audio sounded the way it did.
الأسئلة الشائعة
- What does a voice trace show that a CDR does not?
- A CDR summarizes a call after it ends (numbers, timestamps, duration, disposition, route), while a voice trace preserves the hop-by-hop signaling and per-leg media statistics, which is the detail needed to attribute a quality problem to a specific segment of the call path.
- Is a voice trace the same as a call recording?
- No. A recording stores the conversation audio; a voice trace stores the diagnostic evidence around the call (SIP signaling and RTP quality metrics). Teams often keep both, linked by the same call ID, because the trace explains problems the recording only demonstrates.
- When is a voice trace the right diagnostic to pull?
- Whenever a call connected but sounded degraded (one-way audio, robotic voice, drops) or failed setup intermittently. The per-hop signaling and media statistics isolate whether the fault sits on the customer's connection, the originating carrier, or a transit hop, which a single end-to-end quality score cannot.
