Huddle

Qué es Huddle?

Esta entrada está disponible actualmente solo en inglés.

A huddle is a lightweight, spontaneous audio call started instantly from a team messaging channel — no scheduled invite or calendar meeting required — meant for a quick conversation that would otherwise be a string of chat messages. Anyone in the channel can start or join a huddle, making it a fast substitute for walking over to a colleague's desk in a distributed or hybrid team.

More detail

A worked example: two agents triaging a live incident in an on-call channel hit the huddle button the moment a text thread gets too slow, and they close the call three minutes later. There is no calendar invite, no meeting room link, and no scheduling round-trip — the chat thread that prompted the call stays directly attached to the channel.

A huddle is narrower than a full video meeting: it is an unplanned, audio-first call scoped to one channel's participants, where a scheduled video meeting is planned in advance, carries an invite and attendee list, and typically supports camera, screen share, and recording. Huddles skip all of that setup for speed.

Huddles are ephemeral — there is no recurring link or calendar entry, and the call simply ends when participants leave, unlike a formally scheduled meeting with its own URL and lobby. On Orbit, a huddle launches from a Team Chat channel over the built-in video room, so the coordination that happens around customer work stays on the same platform as the work itself.

Preguntas frecuentes

How is a huddle different from a scheduled video meeting?
A huddle starts instantly from a chat conversation with no invite or calendar entry — an unplanned, audio-first call scoped to that channel's participants — while a scheduled video meeting is planned in advance with a fixed time, an invited attendee list, and typically camera, screen share, and recording support.
Who can join a huddle?
Anyone with access to the channel the huddle was started in can join, which keeps the call scoped to the people already working in that conversation rather than requiring a separate invite to circulate first.
