TCR — The Campaign Registry
What is TCR?
The Campaign Registry (TCR) is the central clearinghouse US mobile carriers appointed to register brands and messaging campaigns for A2P 10DLC traffic. Every business sending application-to-person SMS over standard US 10-digit numbers must register its brand and each campaign use case with TCR; carriers query that registry to decide the throughput, filtering, and surcharges that apply to a sender's traffic.
More detail
Registration happens in two stages: a brand record (the legal business, vetted against public records) and one or more campaign records (the declared use case — marketing, 2FA, customer care — plus sample messages and opt-in details). Each approved campaign unlocks a carrier-assigned trust score and throughput tier; unregistered traffic faces aggressive filtering, higher per-message surcharges, and throughput around 1 message per second.
Orbit runs the registration process through its own TCR integration — the tenant submits brand and campaign details once through the Orbit API or dashboard, and Orbit submits them to the registry and keeps the records current.
Frequently asked
- Do I have to register with TCR myself?
- No. Orbit submits brand and campaign registrations to The Campaign Registry on your behalf — you supply the business and campaign details through Orbit's 10DLC registration flow, and the registration status comes back into your account.
- What happens if I send US A2P traffic without a TCR registration?
- Carriers treat unregistered 10DLC traffic as lower-trust: messages get silently filtered or blocked, per-message surcharges apply, and throughput drops to roughly 1 message per second instead of the tens of messages per second a registered campaign can carry.
