Field notes on AI-era growth, deliverability, voice, and messaging for developers and teams building on Orbit by Devotel.
Overhead paging used to mean a horn speaker and a wiring closet. Paging groups in Devotel Orbit bring 1-tap broadcast paging to the browser dashboard: a named group of deskphones and teammates, a broadcast trigger, and announcements that ring deskphones on speaker and push straight to softphones.
A practical guide to the Voice → Colleagues presence sidebar, creating extensions, and how presence, extensions, and click-to-call work together in Devotel Orbit.
A fair head-to-head of CallHippo's per-seat SMB cloud phone against Devotel Orbit's AI-first, usage-priced platform, with a comparison table, evaluation axes, tenant-owned controls, a migration path, and an FAQ.
Grasshopper's per-account virtual PBX — published numbers whose extensions route calls to team devices — against Devotel Orbit's AI-first omnichannel platform, with the /compare/grasshopper matrix and an FAQ.
OpenPhone (rebranded Quo) per-line SMB phone app — shared team inbox for calls, texts, and voicemail — against Devotel Orbit's AI-first omnichannel platform, with the /compare/openphone matrix and an FAQ that names the migration runbook.
Cisco Webex UCaaS vs Devotel Orbit's AI-first platform — the /compare/cisco-webex matrix, tenant-owned controls, migration, and FAQ.
Front desks at law firms, clinics, and smaller businesses still run on a human operator. The Attendant Console in Devotel Orbit gives that person a live view of every extension, the waiting callers, and the shared park lobby, from one screen.
Enterprise voice survives region loss only when SIP routing, registration, and dial plans are designed multi-region from day one. This guide walks through how multi-region SIP routing actually works, how failover behaves on inbound and outbound paths, a five-step design, and the mistakes that turn a redundant architecture into a single-region liability.
The UCaaS operations surfaces on Devotel Orbit — shared lines, call park, ring groups, paging groups, and hot-desking — configured from the Voice dashboard
Ringover's France-headquartered cloud phone system against Devotel Orbit's AI-first platform, with evaluation criteria, honest /compare/ringover cells, tenant-owned controls, a migration path, and an FAQ.
Nextiva's per-seat unified-communications suite against Devotel Orbit's AI-first platform, with the /compare/nextiva matrix and an FAQ.

Aircall's per-seat voice for sales and support teams against Devotel Orbit's AI-first platform, with the /compare/aircall matrix and an FAQ.
RingCentral's per-seat phone suite against Devotel Orbit's AI-first platform, with the /compare/ringcentral matrix cells and an FAQ.
Zoom Phone's per-seat meetings-attached add-on against Devotel Orbit's AI-first platform, with the /compare/zoom-phone matrix and an FAQ.
A fair head-to-head of Dialpad's AI-native UCaaS against Devotel Orbit's AI-first platform, with evaluation axes, honest /compare/dialpad cells, tenant-owned controls, a migration path, and an FAQ.
UCaaS bills per seat per month; CPaaS bills per message, minute, and API call. This post models both on a 20-agent mixed call/SMS/workflow profile, shows where the break-even sits, and explains when each billing model actually wins.
Team chat in a UCaaS platform is only useful if it lives where the calls happen. Orbit ships threaded internal channels, message search, and live presence inside the same workspace as the softphone — so shift handoffs and escalations never leave for Slack. Here is what that includes, and honestly, what it does not.
An evaluation of the top unified communication platforms for businesses in 2026, across three kinds — seat-licensed UCaaS suites such as RingCentral, 8x8, Dialpad, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams; programmable CPaaS APIs such as Twilio, Vonage, Telnyx, and Infobip; and the consolidated platform. Scored on channel coverage, published pricing, AI agents, and who terminates the traffic.
A UCaaS buyer crossing between incumbents and a new platform weighs single-vendor consolidation against one entry point that starts with AI voice agents. This guide splits the field by product-entry point — AI-first vs seat-licensed — and gives the worked decision table the alternatives hub's business-size split cannot answer.
CCaaS is the licensed software a support or sales team uses to route, handle, and measure customer conversations across voice and digital channels. A clear 2026 definition of the category, a 3-way decision table against UCaaS and CPaaS, where AI voice agents land in each model, and when to move off a per-seat platform.
Most unified communications evaluations stop at a per-seat price sheet. Examined as an engineering problem instead, the benefits businesses actually get from a converged platform reduce to four — one identity and consent record across channels, one enforcement point for quiet hours and sender rules, the routing and handoff intelligence a shared context layer feeds, and one bill instead of a vendor per channel. This post defines what "unified" actually means for the phone system, contact center, and messaging layers, prices the difference against a multi-vendor stack, and shows where Orbit's converged platform lands against that evaluation.
Unified communications is converging with the contact center and programmable messaging into one procurement decision, and the AI layer is moving from a bolted-on feature to core infrastructure. Here is where that leaves buyers, and where Orbit's converged platform fits.
AI-powered UCaaS bundles a cloud phone system, team messaging, and video meetings with an AI agent layer that summarizes calls, transcribes voicemail, and can answer or route a call itself. Here is what that actually means, how the leading platforms package it, and where Orbit fits.
UCaaS is packaged unified communications you turn on for a team; CPaaS is programmable communication APIs you build into your own product. A clear 2026 guide to the difference, when to choose each, the convergence trend, and a decision framework — with a side-by-side comparison table.
